After visiting their website : https://www.zuerich.com/fr/sightseeing-activites/shopping/marches-de-noel

I went in Zürich to visit some of them. Yesterday, I took the train from Elsass to Zürich for a long walk through the city. A long cold day to walk. By luck, the train tickets were quite cheap than usual so I thought it was a good opportunity.

From Muhouse to Basel then from Basel to Zürich and finally I arrived there. The weather wasn’t so good, cloudy and foggy, freezy as if it was already winter whereas it’s still automn but whatever, I was there and felt enthusiastic despite the fact, it was a sad say, a sad anniversary in mind.

The city looks like Strasbourg in the sense you have to walk along the lake and aside it, you have many streets you can go and see. The lake is like a central aisle and on either side of this path, there are streets that intersect and neighbourhoods to visit. That makes it easy to understand and prevent you from being lost.

Along the lake, the birds, seagulls and swans, were restless and noisy.

Before that, when I arrived at the station, I saw that there will be something at the Landesmuseum from 5 pm.

Wienachtsdorf, the Christmas village, they used here some dialect. The standard word is Weinachten.

A big Christmas tree to welcome people, some raclette to reminds the mountains and a red color to remember well the place, everything to make people come and see. If they knew what cholera means, a serious illness that kills thousand people in the past like the plague. By the way, there is even an expression when you have to make a difficult choice, you think about the question  » The Plague or the Cholera?« . I don’t know if they made a joke about it.

Again, everywhere Christmas trees…

The paradise door? Nice!

A similar atmosphere at the foot of a church.

Inside, at last, you can see something more traditionnal and less commercial… A Christmas crib, a suspended sparkling star.

Outside, it’s still foggy and dark.

At the Landesmuseum, the lights explode like fireworks. Blue, gold, orange, pink with music. https://illuminarium.ch/en

Finally, is it Christmas or a funfair?

Coming back to the station, another spectacle in front of my eyes…

Again a big big Christmas tree to welcome the visitors.

Everything is shining.

And again raclette but also burger… Fastfood everywhere even for Christmas.

So that was the Christmas markets in Zürich. It seemed to be an amusement park across the city.

Without forgetting to drink always with pleasure

», Heinrich Heine
